American Standard H2Option Siphonic Dual Flush Round Front Toilet Review (Updated March ’20)
Advertised as being a frugal alternative (as low as half the price) to today’s standard premium toilet, the H2Option Siphonic Dual Flush can be had for as low as under two hundred and fifty dollars and comes straight from American Standard, a brand whose products have been seen as being on the high-end side of the spectrum from quite some time now. Despite a few of the brand’s typical features having been carried over to this particular product, it seems to have edged its way to the other side of the spectrum, offering a unit which is low in price.
Despite its price tag perhaps suggesting that the unit might be of a lower quality in nature, you’ll come to find that it preforms average at worst and, in a few regards, well above average at best. As such, this makes the H2Option Siphonic Dual Flush not only a cheap purchase, but a frugal one as well. While you’ll be making a few sacrifices to bring the price down, you can be sure that, relative to what it’s price tag may suggest, the H2Option Siphonic Dual Flush comes with a high degree of overall quality.
FLUSHING EFFECTIVENESS
I gave the H2Option Siphonic Dual Flush a four-star rating simply because its flushing efficiency and effectiveness is quite above average, though not as high as some models on the market. This bodes well when you consider that it sits in a price range which encompasses a variety of toilets whose flushing effectiveness is rather below average. If you’re looking to spend three hundred dollars or less on your next toilet purchase, you simply cannot beat the H2Option Siphonic Dual Flush in regards to the effectiveness of its flush.
DURABILITY
The toilet carries with it a high level of durability. This should be especially exciting if your interest in the unit is due in whole or in part to its agreeable price. While many cheaper toilets may have achieved their low cost through skimping on quality materials in their make, that is not the case here. Also, because you don’t have to worry about the unit breaking any time soon, you can be sure you won’t only save money right now, but in the long run as well.
QUALITY
While the H2Option Siphonic Dual Flush’s quality is certainly above average, I unfortunately had to knock a point off of its overall rating. This is due to the fact that it has little in the way of added features. While it performs great in all of the ways you could expect a toilet of its price to perform, it’s just not all that advanced. However, because of its aforementioned high level of performance, you can be sure that it’s not of a low quality. Not in the slightest. In terms of flushing efficiency, durability and nearly every other metric of quality outside of added features, it does an excellent job.
DESIGN AND FINISH
This has to be where the H2Option Siphonic Dual Flush most lacks. You may not even notice it upon walking down the toilet isle of a hardware store, being that it blends right in. While it doesn’t exactly look bad, it doesn’t exactly look good either. It gives off the appearance of just another toilet. Of course, you can’t expect too much in terms of looks when considering that this is a budget toilet.
WARRANTY
Relative to toilets as a whole, this particular unit’s included warranty isn’t all that great. Relative to toilets going for the same price, on the other hand, its warranty is likely the best you’ll ever see. Like its level of durability, this goes on to ensure you keep saving money later on down the road, as opposed to just saving a few hundred dollars immediately after purchasing this toilet.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Overall, the H2Option Siphonic Dual Flush could be seen as being rather average (or a little bit of above average) in terms of its overall specifications. Because its price is below average; however, this gives it a cost-to-quality ratio which could possibly be seen as being the best in the business. If you’d prefer to skimp on innovative features (as opposed to skimping on durability and quality) to get yourself a very frugal toilet, it’s extremely hard to beat the H2Option Siphonic Dual Flush. In fact, you may have a hard time believing you’re using a budget toilet at all.
